Pento is a 15-stringed zither designed with the purpose of introducing and preserving the Chinese cultural heritage and musiology. The aim is to challenge the idea of taking an instrument from the past that is considered as old-fashioned and “culturally loaded”, re-imagining it to fit in to the contemporary society.
Along with the ambition to break cultural barriers, the old-established production process of traditional Chinese instruments is re-designed to be more efficient and sustainable.
Pento was exhibited at Form/Design Center Spring 2018.
